Farm Produce and Material Price Continue to Fall

The prices of major farm produce and material for production monitored by MOFCOM continued to fall last week (October 24-30).

The average price of 18 vegetables fell 2.2% as compared with that of the previous week, of which the prices of lettuces, celery and of Chinese cabbages dropped by 15.4%, 11.7% and 11.4% respectively, and the prices of rapes, white turnips and eggplant saw a fall of 6.2%, 3.8% and 3.7% respectively. The average wholesale price of 8 main categories of aquatic products fell by 1%, of which silver carp, carp and crucian carp saw 3.6%, 1.3% and 1.3 % price decrease respectively. The price of meat and eggs saw a slightly change, with the prices of pork, chicken and eggs dropped by1%, 0.1% and 0.6% respectively, while both beef and lamb rose by 0.5%. The prices of grain and oil saw a slightly rise, of which the prices of rice and flour rose by 0.2%, and the prices of rapeseed oil, peanut oil and soybean oil remain unchanged.

In the market of material for production, the prices of mineral products, rubber, steel, agricultural resources products, building materials and chemical products fell, light industry prices remained stable, and the prices of energy and non-ferrous metals increased slightly. The prices of mineral products fell by 6.6%, of which the prices of iron ore decreased by 7.7%. The price of rubber, steel and agricultural resources dropped by 3.5%, 1.6% and 0.3% respectively. The price of building materials decreased by 0.2%, of which glasses dropped by 0.4% and that of cement rose by 0.3%. The prices of chemical products fell by 0.1%, while that of energy resources increased 1.1%, of which the price of crude oil and coal rose by 3.5% and 2.1% respectively, while that of coke decreased by 1.4%. The price of non-ferrous metals saw a 1.8% rise.
